Our first Friday Night Stations/Meatless Meal event was a huge success! Many thanks to our own American Heritage Girls Troop 1031, who served up a delicious meatless ziti dinner last Friday night after a large crowd had participated in a beautiful Stations of the Cross devotion in the church. The girls collected $512 in donations for the meal, which they will send to Chimbote, Peru, to help rebuild the chapel of Santa Rosa de Lima that burned down there recently. If you were unable to be there at the dinner last Friday, but would still like to help with a donation for this very worthy cause, it’s not too late! We would welcome any additional donations to send to this poor parish, whose pastor, Father Joe Hayden, is a priest of our Archdiocese and the uncle of Saint Martin parishioner, Chris Geddie.
Our second Friday Night Stations/Meatless Meal is scheduled for Friday, March 30th and our teens will be hosting the dinner on that night. Their menu is meatless soups (potato, tomato, cheesy vegetable, etc.), tuna sandwiches and grilled cheese sandwiches and they will be sending all of the funds they raise at this dinner to Father Richard Ho Lung’s Missionaries of the Poor. This is an order of priests and brothers who take care of the handicapped and the very poorest of the poor in Haiti, Jamaica, India, Africa and the Philippines. Please mark your calendars to join us on that evening for both the Stations and the dinner!
