Organ Recital

St. Martin’s Director of Sacred Music & Organist, Paul Weber, will give an organ recital on Friday, November 22nd, the Feast of St. Cecilia, Patroness of Musicians, at 7:30 p.m.  The program, played on St. Martin’s landmark 1894 Farrand & Votey organ, will include music of Bach, Buxtehude, Alain, Franck and Durufle.  A free-will donation will be taken to benefit the maintenance of St. Martin’s historic organ.

Typhoon Relief Collection

Super Typhoon Haiyan, the equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 195 miles per hour, slammed into the Philippines on the island of Samar the evening of November 7, 2013, and hit Vietnam on Sunday, November 9. Thousands of people are feared dead, and local officials report approximately 9.5 million people have been affected.

This weekend there will be a second collection after all Masses for those effected by Super Typhoon Haiyan. These funds will be used to support the efforts of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholic Relief Services (the official international humanitarian agency representing the U.S. Catholic Church) to respond to immediate emergency needs for such necessities as water, food, shelter and medical care and assist in the long-term recovery from the disaster. Collection funds will also be used to support the long-term need to rebuild the Church after widespread destruction.

Thank You!

The Golden Arrow Center wishes to say Thank You to everyone who helped make the auction dinner “Autumn in Tuscany” a success! At this time we have raised $18, 567.50 to support the pro-life work of the Golden Arrow. Thank you to our auction committee for their countless hours, our donors and sponsors for their donations of auction items and gifts of financial support and the Knights of Columbus Councils who helped fill our tables and especially the K of C Assumption Council who acted as our hosts, providing both the hall, their chef and many volunteers to prepare and serve our delicious Italian dinner. We could not have held this fundraising event without your support! If you were unable to attend, please consider making a donation to “The Golden Arrow Center” and help us reach our goal of $20,000 raised. With your help we are slowly chipping away at the $30,000 dollar deficit that we faced when we re-opened in April.

Knights of Columbus

On November 11, 2013 at 6:00pm the Holy Innocents Council will host an open meeting in the Parish Hall. Members, families, and Catholic men 18 years and older that are interested in becoming Knights are invited. We will start with Benediction in the Church, followed by food and drink in the parish hall, and a presentation by Bill Moriarty of many programs available through our Knights of Columbus insurance.
